According to Statex Research of Nairobi, about 55 percent of married couples in Kenya suffered a sexually transmitted disease with 90 per cent of them never telling their partners hence the increased spread.

Increased infidelity has only worsened the situation for those who dispense with protection.

Three years ago, the public health sector was recording about 60,000 cases of sexually transmitted disease annually, including gonorrhoea, syphilis, herpes and others.

Currently the records have almost doubled to 104, 000 according to the National Aids and STI Control Programme (Nascop).
