Waiguru: I will not sue King Kaka over ‘Wajinga Nyinyi’

Kirinyaga Governor Ann Waiguru has said she will no longer sue musician King Kaka over his ‘Wajinga Nyinyi’ hit song.

The song that has so far garnered over 2.1 million views on YouTube is full of political satire, and castigates Kenyan voters for blindly voting in irresponsible leaders, while at the same time reprimanding greedy leaders.

The Governor who had earlier threatened to sue for defamation after being allegedly mentioned in the song, implied to the song being a publicity stunt pulled by the singer.

“Having watched the antics of #kingkaka in the last couple of days with reports of fake assassination attempts and DCI summons, I recognise that he’s a confused attention seeking young man. I have therefore made the decision not to proceed with the King Kaka suit,” she said via her Twitter.

She also alleged that song was the product of politicians abusing talent to settle their scores.

“As I have chosen in previous occasions of this nature, I will contend with their masters,” she said.

The song has drawn both criticism and praise.

The title itself ‘Wajinga Nyinyi’ has drawn mixed feelings as it can be translated to ‘You Fools’, which most Kenyans find demeaning.
