Twin Boy Stolen By Woman at Kenyatta Hospital

An unknown woman allegedly stole a two-week-old baby at the Kenyatta National Hospital soon after the father of the child, Job Ouko, gave her the baby to hold. She is said to have sped off from the hospital on a motorbike, as seen on the hospital’s CCTV cameras.

Job Ouko took Ms. Jane Kerubo to the hospital – where she had been discharged 2 weeks ago after delivering the twins – when she started experiencing difficulty in breathing on Sunday Night. Job’s sister in law, Naomi Leo, accompanied them to the hospital at 2 am but Jane was not attended to until 11 am.

Mr. Ouko handed over his son Prince to a Kisii-speaking woman and the other son to another woman so as to escort his wife to the room where she would be attended to. “I am a human being. I saw other patients waiting and decided to ask for help. I gave the other son to yet another patient to hold them as I escorted my wife to the ward” he explained.

He claimed that the other woman informed him of the departure of the woman holding Prince as he came to pick the babies. His recollection of the event conflicts with that of Mr. Ithai, who is the hospital’s communications manager who says “Shortly after they entered the ward, one of the ladies who had one of the babies by the name Lucy Kwamboka, came to the ward claiming that the other lady had disappeared with the other baby and they needed to raise the alarm,”

The matter has been reported to the police and Mr. Ouko and Ms. Naomi are helping with the investigation. The family has circulated a photo of the twin boys urging anyone who spots the one covered in a white baby shawl to call 0700378169/ 0716395978/0704248445 or report to the nearest police station.

Prince Ouko, the missing twin, has been recently found in Kawangware Area, Nairobi. More details on the case to be released as the investigation continues.
