Conservationist Dr Paula Kahumbu appointed to the Nat Geo Board of Trustees

Award-winning conservationist and CEO of Wildlife Direct and National Geographic Explore, Dr Paula Kahumbu has been appointed to the National Geographic Society Board of Trustees. Dr Kahumbu was among four women and one man appointed to the board.

The appointment makes Dr Kahumbu the first explorer to be appointed to the Board. She is also the only African on the list.

Dr Kahumbu is well known for her conservation efforts especially in the war against elephant poaching. While announcing her appointment, NAT Geo noted that Dr Kahumbu’s efforts had led to an 80% reduction in the war against elephant poaching in the last five years.
