President Uhuru Kenyatta’ s Twitter and Facebook pages have been temporary suspended after being accessed by an unauthorized person.

“On account of unauthorized access to the official social media handles of H.E the President of the Republic of Kenya, Uhuru Kenyatta. All official social media handles for the President have been temporarily suspended to allow for the necessary remedial measures to be undertaken,” said State House Chief of Staff, Nzioka Waita.

The suspension of the accounts came only an hour after president Kenyatta had declared his readiness to fight corruption in the country on his Twitter page.

“If you are corrupt we will fight you. You can be my brother or my sister or my closest political ally. I won’t be clouded by ethnicity or status in my quest to leave behind a united nation and I will continue championing for Kenya’s unity,” read the tweet.

President Kenyatta is currently in Namibia, where he was invited as the Chief Guest at the country’s 29th Independence day celebrations. The head of state has been in Namibia since Wednesday, and is expected to return to Kenya on Sunday.
