Fujifilm Middle East & Africa Launches “Pink October” Initiative

This Breast Cancer Awareness Month, FUJIFILM Middle East & Africa has launched its regional “Fujifilm Pink October” initiative across healthcare institutions in Kenya, the UAE, Saudi Arabia, and Egypt. The initiative aims to connect awareness to action by encouraging early detection, facilitating community conversations, and promoting a message of hope and solidarity for women and families across the region.

Breast cancer continues to be the most commonly diagnosed cancer among women globally. According to data from the World Health Organisation (WHO), it was the leading cancer among women in 164 out of 186 countries in 2024. Early screening and timely diagnosis remain crucial, as routine mammograms can detect abnormalities before symptoms appear, significantly improving treatment success rates, survival outcomes, and care options.

Bridging technology and community action

Fujifilm’s regional Pink October campaign combines medical imaging innovation with community outreach. Throughout October, partner hospitals and healthcare facilities across Kenya and the wider region are hosting tailored community activations. Designed to bring together patients, families, and healthcare professionals, these interactive spaces offer educational materials, open discussions on breast health, and opportunities for visitors to share personal messages of encouragement.

“Behind every diagnosis is an individual journey, and our responsibility goes beyond the solutions we provide,” said Shin Tagawa, Managing Director at FUJIFILM Middle East FZE. “Through Fujifilm Pink October, we are proud to work alongside healthcare institutions across the region, bringing together our imaging expertise and community participation to support women in taking that next step, and to stand with those affected by breast cancer.”

Advancing comfort and early detection in screening

A major focus of the initiative is to demystify the screening process and improve patient comfort during routine mammograms. Fujifilm is highlighting its AMULET Sophinity digital mammography system, which integrates low-dose radiation, high-resolution imaging, and AI-enabled projection guidance to optimise patient positioning and diagnostic accuracy. The technology utilises updated breast positioning and compression techniques specifically developed to make mammogram experiences more comfortable for women while delivering clear visualizations for clinicians.

Supporting global Breast Cancer priorities

The campaign aligns with the World Health Organization’s Global Breast Cancer Initiative pillars, which emphasise early detection, health promotion, timely diagnosis, and comprehensive care management.

The initiative also reflects Fujifilm’s broader global healthcare partnerships, including its role as a Visionary Partner (2025–27) with World Cancer Day, an initiative of the Union for International Cancer Control (UICC).

Routine screening saves lives. Women are encouraged to consult their healthcare providers, understand their personal risk factors, and schedule regular mammograms or clinical breast exams.
