In 2013, Dr. Sheba and her partner, Ronnie Dunston, decided to travel to 100 countries together. A few passport stamps and travel miles later, they’ve realised their dream. The American couple – both government employees – has since inspired a movement called #RoadTo100Countries.

Destinations the married lovebirds have ticked off their bucket lists include Peru, Morocco, Russia, India, Cuba, Romania, Bosnia, Maldives, Canada, Macedonia and Poland, stealing a kiss or two in every country.

In just five years, their 100-country goal culminated in a trip to Mauritius four weeks ago. But ‘how’ you ask? Speaking to Because of Them We Can, husband Ronnie shared how they had no financial help to achieve their dream.

“We had no sponsors, no donations, no travel agents, no one to help us, all we had was each other,” he said. “We knew we wanted to travel the world, at least half of it, but after looking into the cost of travel we are like OMG this is expensive.”

What made it all possible was what they’ve dubbed “The Tricks to Travel,” following some strategising. “Using points, miles, and strategic systems, we were able to visit 100 countries together in 5yrs,” giving thousands of travellers proof that it is possible.
