Kirinyaga man kills wife and four children

Police in Kirinyaga County are holding a 35-year-old man who confessed to killing his wife and four children yesterday.

The man identified as Paul Njuki killed his wife, Millicent Muthoni, 38, and their children; Clifton Njuki,1, Sheromit Wambui,5, Gifton Bundi, 7, and thirteen-year-old Nelly Wawira, 13 before surrendering himself to Kianyaga police station.

Police officers who visited the crime scene found the bodies of the five with multiple stab wounds and recovered one of the weapons with the suspect expected to lead the police to the site where he hid an axe which he used in the killing.

The suspect Eyanae Ekwom had differed with his wife over her decision to take their son who was unwell to the hospital.

The bodies of the deceased are to be transported to Kerugoya County mortuary with efforts being derailed by the heavy rains.

The incident is the latest in a growing list of cases involving gender-based violence that has been witnessed in the country in the past few months.
