It’s that time of the year when the weather gets a bit chilly and you therefore need to dress up warmly. Sometimes dressing up in sweaters and coats to keep warm can also leave you feeling less glamorous. It doesn’t have to be that way – you can accessorize appropriately to achieve a look that says you understand fashion for all types of weather. Here are a few accessories you can arm yourself with to not only make this season bearable but also keep you looking trendy.

Hats, Headscarves and wrap

There are many varieties of hats to keep you warm this season depending on your style. Knit hats, crocheted hats, marvins, berets and beanies are all suit accessories for this season as they are made of yarn, wool, felt and other mat that are designed to keep your head warm and protected from the harsh cold. Since most hats are usually worn casually, you can consider tying a headscarf or wrap if you work in an office that is more liberal in its dress code.

Leggings and Stockings

These are worn to keep the legs warm. They are tightly fitted and usually made from Lycra, spandex, nylon, cotton or polyester. The difference between the two is that leggings do not cover the feet, as they are ankle length, while stockings do. Sometimes stockings may be knee high and not go all the way to the waist. These are handy for keeping your legs warm during the cold weather when you are dressed in skirts or dresses.

Mittens

Instead of continuously rubbing your hands or sitting on them to keep warm on very cold days, get yourself a pair of mittens. These are similar to gloves and are useful for keeping the hands warm during the cold weather because they give full cover to the whole hand. All these accessories are available in cloth shops, some supermarkets and most secondhand (mitumba) markets.
