Zambian authorities have banned an energy drink laced with the male sex booster Viagra.

The Ndola City Council  has suspended the production of Natural Power SX Energy Drink after  Zambia Medicine Regulatory Authority  ( ZAMRA) complained that the energy drink was laced with Sildenafil  (Viagra) in December 6, last year.

This prompted Ndola City Council, Ministry of Health, Zambia Bureau of Standards and ZAMRA to send samples to South Africa and Zimbabwe for further independent investigations of the alleged adulteration.

Results revealed that indeed the energy drink contained positive traces of viagra.

The levels of Sildenafil Citrate found in the samples ranged from 68.5 mg -71.3 mg per 250 ml of the drink. However, the raw material samples tested negative for Sildenafil Citrate therefore confirming the alleged adulteration.

The energy drink produced by Revin Zambia, is exported around the region including to Uganda, where a consumer recently complained of  profuse sweating and a nearly six-hour erection.
