On Monday May 6,  the Duke (Prince Harry) and Duchess (Meghan Markle) of Sussex welcomed their first-born child into the world.

According to The Sun, the baby boy was born in Portland private hospital in central London, weighing about  3.3 Kilograms.

The birth of the royal baby, which got delayed by a week, was characterized by a lot of privacy unlike other royal births.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex forfeited royal traditions such as posing for a photo with their baby outside the hospital right after birth.

The birth of their child also came as a surprise for many and was made by the Duke himself. Prince Harry and Meghan’s mother, Doria Ragland were present during the birth of the unnamed royal baby.

“I’m very excited to announce that Meghan and myself had a baby boy earlier this morning, a very healthy boy. Mother and baby are doing incredibly well. It’s been the most amazing experience I could ever have possibly imagined. How any woman does what they do is beyond comprehension, but we’re both absolutely thrilled and so grateful to all the love and support from everybody out there. It’s been amazing, so we just wanted to share this with everybody,” an elated Prince Harry announced.

Below are a few interesting facts about the newest addition to the royal family.

He does not have a name yet

When asked by the press what the name of their newborn is, Prince Harry said that they were “still thinking about it”. However, some of the top names that William Hills is speculating include: Albert, Arthur, Alexander, James, Phillip, Spencer, Harry, Frederick,Thomas, and Edward.

He’s the first Afro-American baby born into the royal family

Since the baby’s mother Meghan is African-American, by extension, the royal baby will be multi-racial. He might also acquire dual citizenship since the mother is American and father British.

You can’t see his face yet

As promised in April, the Duke and Duchess of sussexx have continued to keep their baby private by avoiding any cameras around their newborn. Nonetheless, Prince Harry told the press yesterday that come Wednesday, there will be a photo call “so everyone can see the baby”.

He will be 7th in line to inherit the throne

The royal baby will inherit the throne after the Prince of Wales, the Duke of Cambridge and his children – Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis – and his father, Prince Harry.

He is the queen’s 8th grandchild and Doria Ragland’s first grandchild

The royal baby’s title will be Earl of Dumbarton

The first son of the Duke is expected to pick one of the lesser titles of his father. Prince Harry was given the title on the morning of his wedding. One day, he will also inherit the title ‘Duke of Sussexx’ from his father.

News of the royal baby relayed using a ceremonial easel

After the announcement of the birth of the royal baby, a formal announcement was placed at the forecourt of Buckingham Palace. The easel, which was carried by two butlers symbolized that “the Queen and the Royal Family are delighted”.
