Kenya green-lights Pfizer vaccine doses for minors between 15-18 years

The Ministry of Health has approved Covid-19 vaccinations for children between the ages of 15-18 years. According to health CS Mutahi Kagwe the pharmacy and poisons board has received authorization to administer Pfizer vaccines for all person 12 years of age and above as recommended by WHO.
Once vaccination starts, Kenya will join the list of countries that have already vaccinated its teenage population, reducing the Covid-19 cases in the country in general such as the United Arab Emirates, China and Cuba.
The new directive is expected to put the country on track to achieving its goal of having 30 million people vaccinated by the end of next year.

The Ministry of Health has also announced new measures to boost the uptake of Covid-19 vaccines in the country. According to the new measures, Kenyans will be required to show proof of vaccination before they can access government services and transport services.
The new directives also limit the capacity of indoor gatherings to two-thirds with attendants required to produce proof of vaccination.
