Her act of embracing an indigenous tree for three days was intended to raise awareness about climate change, environmental conservation, and the therapeutic connection between humans and nature.

In recognition of her courage, fortitude, and leadership, President Ruto also conferred on Muthoni the Head of State Commendation (HSC) Medal, marking her as a role model in environmental stewardship.

In addition to these honours, the Kenya Wildlife Service (KWS) and the Kenya Tourism Board (KTB) have awarded Muthoni and her team a fully sponsored holiday.

The Ministry of Environment, Climate Change and Forestry will further support her dream of visiting Brazil to engage with international conservation initiatives, broadening her exposure to global environmental leadership.

Through his official X account, President Ruto described Muthoni as “an exemplary young Kenyan whose dedication and determination embody the very best of our nation’s spirit.

The 15 Billion Tree Planting Campaign seeks to restore degraded landscapes, increase Kenya’s forest cover, and mitigate climate change impacts.

Muthoni’s appointment as ambassador positions her to lead public engagement efforts, champion tree-planting initiatives, and mobilise communities nationwide.
