Bomet Clinical Officer Arrested for Allegedly Raping Pregnant woman
A clinical officer attached to Chemaner Health Center in Bomet County has been arrested for allegedly raping a pregnant woman during what was supposed to be a routine medical consultation.
Eric Langat, also known as Kirinyet, is accused of committing the crime while attending to the victim in one of the consultation rooms.
The incident came to light when the victim screamed for help, attracting the attention of staff and other patients. Reports indicate that Langat fled the scene before security arrived.
Following a report at Chemaner Police Station, authorities launched a manhunt and successfully apprehended the suspect at a hideout. The victim was taken to Longisa County Referral Hospital for a medical examination and received counseling with assistance from both medical staff and police officers.
A source has claimed that Langat was allegedly involved in two previous rape incidents that went unreported due to his close ties with senior health facility administrators.
Bomet East Sub-County Police Commander Michael Singa confirmed the arrest and stated that Langat will be arraigned in court once investigations are complete. Authorities have urged anyone with additional information about the suspect to come forward.
This case has raised serious concerns about patient safety within healthcare facilities and the abuse of trust by medical professionals.
