KUCCPS Opens May 2026 TVET Intake: Applications Now Open for KCSE Graduates Since 2000
  • PublishedMarch 10, 2026

The Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS) has announced the opening of the application window for Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) courses for the upcoming May 2026 intake.

In a significant move to ensure inclusivity, KUCCPS CEO Dr Agnes Wahome confirmed that the application is open not only to the 2025 KCSE cohort but to all Form Four leavers who sat their examinations between the years 2000 and 2025.

Key application details

  • March 18, 2026, is the application deadline.

  • Target Group: KCSE candidates from 2000 to 2025.

  • Students with any KCSE mean grade (from A to E) are eligible to apply for various certificate, craft, and diploma programs.

Available courses and institutions

Applicants can choose from a wide range of practical, skill-based programs offered in:

  • National Polytechnics

  • Technical Training Institutes (TTIs)

  • Institutes of Science and Technology

  • Other accredited technical colleges nationwide.

The courses span various sectors, including Engineering, ICT, Hospitality, Agriculture, Business, and Building & Construction. These programs are specifically designed to align with the current labour market demands and promote self-reliance through entrepreneurship.

Entry requirements by level

While the portal is open to all grades, the placement is categorised based on the KCSE mean grade:

  1. Diploma (Level 6): Generally requires a mean grade of C- and above.

  2. Craft Certificate (Level 5): Generally requires a mean grade of D (plain) and above.

  3. Artisan Certificate (Level 4): Open to those with a mean grade of E.

How to apply

Eligible candidates are encouraged to follow these steps:

  1. Log in to the KUCCPS Student Portal using your KCSE Index Number, Examination Year, and Password. (Your initial password is often your Birth Certificate Number or KCPE Index Number).

  2. Browse through the TVET Programs section to see available courses and their respective institution codes.

  3. Select your preferred courses and submit the application.

  4. A placement fee may be required for those applying for the first time or revising their choices.

Parallel applications

In addition to the TVET intake, KUCCPS recently opened applications for 31 courses at the Kenya Medical Training College (KMTC) and a Diploma in Law (Paralegal Studies). However, applicants should note that the deadline for KMTC and Law applications is March 13, 2026, which is earlier than the TVET deadline.

Why TVET?

The government has been heavily investing in technical education as a pillar for national development. By offering a “phased” application process, KUCCPS aims to allow students to transition into training institutions more efficiently, ensuring that no student is left behind, regardless of their academic grade.
