Anxiety has finally turned into relief for nearly one million Form Four leavers. The Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS) is releasing the highly anticipated 2026 university and college placement results.

Education Cabinet Secretary Julius Ogamba will officially unveil the placement data, bringing to an end months of waiting for the 2025 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) candidates, their parents, and tertiary institutions across the country.

Massive capacities to absorb all qualified candidates

This year’s placement exercise represents one of the largest applicant pools in Kenya’s history. The exercise will handle a massive cohort of 980,444 eligible candidates.

According to data from the Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC), a total of 268,700 candidates scored the minimum university entry grade of C+ or higher. This is an increase of 24,137 students compared to the previous cycle.

KUCCPS Chief Executive Officer Dr Mercy Wahome reassured stakeholders that the country’s higher education infrastructure has more than enough room to accommodate every single student who qualified.

“As required by the Universities Act, 2012, placement of students into the institutions is strictly on merit, closely considering the applicants’ listed priorities, their individual KCSE performance, and the officially declared capacities of our institutions,” noted a statement from KUCCPS.

How students can check their status

The placement agency has instructed successful applicants to access their individual results by logging onto the official KUCCPS student portal.
