An accidental piercing of Mercy Muchiri’s ankle by a thorn when she was young has led to great suffering that has affected all aspects of her life. She shares her experience with MWAURA MUIGANA.
“I still recall the intense pain I endured when I was accidentally pierced on my ankle by a Keiapple tree thorn in 1991, as I was heading home from school in Karia-ini, Nyeri County. Although my leg was numb with pain, I didn’t bother to inform my grandparents whom I lived with, neither did I pull out the thorn for fear of experiencing more pain.
