The Beyond Zero Campaign has received a Sh163 million donation from local companies to boost its outreach campaigns.

First Lady, Margaret Kenyatta received these donations in her first official engagement this year. Speaking at the event, she said that her focus for this year will be on obstetric fistula, a condition that still affects many women, especially the poor.

“The impact on the ground is truly amazing. You can feel it and you can see it,” said Margaret Kenyatta as she thanked the corporate donors.

This year’s  marathon is slated for March 10 at Nyayo stadium. There will be various categories for the marathon, among them 21km half marathon, 5km family race, tricycle, and wheelchair races and even a 2km `pregna` walk for pregnant women.

The local corporate donors included Commercial Bank of Africa, Cooperative Bank Group, Kenya Commercial Bank, Media Max, Kass FM, Standard Media Group and Capital FM.

Other than the monetary support, the campaign also received 50 laptops from Huawei, a Chinese-based company.The laptops will support healthcare delivery through medical safaris.
