Empire series star, Jussie Smollet was arrested and is in police custody in Chicago for filing a false police report.

The actor claimed  he had gone out to buy food late at night when apparently two white men hurled racial and homophobic insults at him. “This is Maga country,” he said they had told him, referring to President Donald Trump’s Make America Great Again slogan. He also claimed the two men punched him, poured a chemical substance over him and put a rope around his neck.

The 36-year-old is expected to appear in court to face a felony charge after the Authorities say he made up an elaborate story about being attacked on the street.

Police however believe that the star may have paid two Nigerian brothers to stage the attack. The two brothers at the centre of the investigations testified in front of the grand jury just before Jussie Smollet was charged.

Also a surveillance video shows the brothers buying a head hat and ski masks, items used in the attack and the two claimed they were paid to carry the attack.
