Kiambu Governor Ferdinand Waititu ‘Baba yao’ has been freed from Industrial Area prisons after raising the required 15 million cash bail. The governor had spent four nights in the cell after he failed to raise the bail immediately on direction from the court.

However, he had managed to raise the bail by Wednesday but delay in processing made him spend one more night in the cell.

The Governor together with his wife, Susan Ndung’u and several other people have been charged with corruption amounting to million of shillings and irregular awarding of tenders.

His wife had been released earlier after posting the Ksh 4 million cash bail. The governor was warned to stay away from his office until his case has been determined. All the suspects involved in the Ksh 588 million scandal were also asked to surrender their travel documents.
