International delivery app, Glovo, launches in Kenya
A Barcelona-based on-demand delivery application, Glovo, has finally set camp in Nairobi.
The application promises to enable users order anything and have it delivered at their doorstep in just 45 minutes.
The app uses geolocation to help its customers track their orders and locate the nearest Glovo courier. A notification is sent to the customer once their order is picked and the estimate delivery time is given.
To overcome the competition from the current delivery apps in Kenya, Glovo has promised to refund their customers money if they don’t deliver their orders in 45 minutes.
“Speed of delivery is one of Glovo’s value proposition and we would like to assure all our customers that we will live up to this promise,” said Priscilla Muhiu, Head of Marketing for Sub-Saharan Africa at Glovo..
Glovo subscribers will be awarded with credit worth Ksh 600 each time they refer someone to the app. The referred user will also receive the same token.
Kenya is the third African country where Glovo has set up shop after Morocco and Egypt where it was launched last year. Glovo app is operational in more than 20 countries all over the world.
Glovo joins the pool of online delivery apps in Kenya such as Yum and Ki.chen apps which deliver food. Chupa Chap, Kenya Mobar and Boozeit apps that deliver drinks. Sendy, a delivery and transport app, will be another great competitor for Glovo.
