In his new hit Kwenda, that premiered earlier today, rapper Khaligraph is calling out the government for its transgressions against its citizens. Speaking on the ills of corruption going on in the country, the award-winning rapper also features cameos from celebrities including Betty Kyallo, Fena Gitu, Bien and Savara of Sauti Sol, King Kaka and Tanasha Donna to pass his message to the powers that be.
Kwenda has also featured the artist’s long term beef with the Music Society of Kenya (MCSK) for allegedly eating into artists’ money. He scolds MCSK for making artists suffer, asking the body to return artists’ money.
“MSCK wanahitaji mateke...” translating to ‘MCSK needs to be kicked’ is among the first lines of the song.
Also, in the song, Khaligraph mentions the Covid Billionaires corruption case that saw officials in high offices being questioned on COVID-19 funds donated to the country. He also addresses the president on how people in the slums are dying of hunger.
“Suskie kilio ya watu” says part of his message to the president, which translates to ‘Listen to the people’s cry’.
The ‘Omollo’ hit maker has also featured his recent nominations in this year’s BET hip hop awards for best international flow category. The awards are set to go down on October 27.
