Following the plastic ban by the National Environment Management Authority (Nema)  that took effect in August 28th, consumers have been left with no option but to comply or face hefty fines.

NEMA however has provided relief by  informing those with plastic bags in their homes to drop them off at specific retail outlets. The collection points are Tuskys, Uchumi and Nakumatt supermarket.

The organization said the move was to enable smooth recycling of the plastic papers.

Plastic bags pose a big threat to our environment. They not only litter and degrade the beauty of our landscape, but also pose a threat to the lives of wildlife and marine.

Switching to reusable bags will see the conservation and retention of the lives of the planet.
