A  trailer has plunged into the Indian Ocean through the Likoni channel as it was boarding the ferry from mainland side. According to Kenya Ferry Service the driver lost control after hitting the ferry’s prow. The area police boss has confirmed that no casualties have been reported and that the truck had one occupant.

Following the incident, pedestrians have been directed to use the newly launched floating bridge. Only people with health problems and school going kids will be allowed to use the ferry, as efforts to remove the trailer from the water continue.

The trailer is said to be headed to Mombasa from Tanzania and was transporting an unknown quantity of maize.

The incident has caused a snarl up at the ferry since boarding is only through one side.

This incident comes three days after  a tour bus belonging to Pollman’s lost control and plunged in the Indian Ocean.
