DCI detectives and officers from Kiambu police station have arrested three suspects behind the brutal murder of 19 year-old Kenya Institute of Mass Communication (KIMC) student Purity Wangechi.

The the primary suspect 24 year old John Wanyoike Kibungi and two accomplices Kanaiya Kamau and Brendan Muchiri were arrested in the early morning hours from their hide out in Kirigiti Kiambu County.

Wangeci’s body was discovered yesterday morning by the roadside close to Mburiria estate, in Kiambu county with visible stab wounds and strangulation marks.

The deceased is said to have been in a relationship with Kibungi also known as VDJ Flex before she discovered that he was a thug. She confronted him about it leading to a misunderstanding between the two. According to her friends, the suspect cornered and stabbed her when she went to get her clothes from his house.

During the arrest the officers recovered a vegetable knife from the main suspect which they believe was used to stab the deceased.

Kenyans on social media condemned the brutal murder and called for justice for the deceased.

For her family

For her friends

For her community

For the KIMC community

For every girl who died mysteriously

For a lesson to anyone who thinks they can just end someone’s life
