Shopping for your newborn’s clothes can be a fun yet challenging time. Here is a list of things to consider while dressing your infant:
Fabric
As infants have sensitive skin, choosing a natural fabric is essential. Non-natural materials may contain harmful materials. It is therefore important that you go for materials such as natural cotton, muslin, and bamboo. Check if the fabrics are hypoallergenic to protect your baby’s sensitive skin.
Functionality
Baby clothes should always be weather-appropriate, activity-appropriate, and age-appropriate. To prevent the child from colds or heat strokes it is crucial that you dress them as heavy or as light as the weather demands. Dress your kid in clothes they can easily move in, not too restrictive to allow them to stretch as needed. When your child is ready to crawl, they must have clothes they can easily crawl in. Clothes with spikes on the knees may make it hard for them to move around.
Fabric softener and scents
Scents such as chamomile, vanilla, and lavender make for great baby clothes scents. When purchasing scented fabric softeners go of those that are made for babies. Try dressing your child in unscented clothes to see any different reactions they have. If they sleep better or sneeze less in unscented clothes, discontinue using the scents.
Get your basics right
While shopping for baby clothes includes the following: diapers, cardigans, bodysuits, towels, socks, undershirts, jackets, hats, bibs, baby wipes, burp clothes, sleepsuits, onesies, vests, washcloths, and at least three special occasion outfits.
Have fun shopping and dressing your infant!
