Ruth Wambui Announces the Passing of Her Daughter, Neillah
In a heartbreaking update that has shaken many hearts across social media, Ruth Wambui has announced the passing of her beloved daughter, Neillah Mirera.
The news, shared this morning on 16th February , marks the end of a brave and deeply public battle with Type 1 Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA) , a rare and severe disorder Neillah fought for years beyond medical expectations.
In announcing Neillah’s passing, Ruth shared
“God gave Neillah to us on the 14th and He has taken her away on the 15th. My baby refused to wake up, guys…”
A fight beyond prognosis
Neillah was diagnosed in early 2019, when she was only months old. Doctors warned that Type 1 SMA often claims lives within the first year. Ruth was told to cherish the limited time she had.
But Neillah defied timelines.
Born on Valentine’s Day and lovingly called her “million-dollar baby,” she celebrated birthdays, went on road trips, experienced swimming moments, and filled hospital rooms with light. Every milestone was hard-won. Every smile, a triumph.
A mother’s unwavering strength
Ruth turned her daughter’s diagnosis into advocacy. She documented hospital admissions, ventilator support, therapies, and the financial weight of home-based care. She organized fundraisers, shared monthly needs transparently, and consistently pointed back to faith, often writing, “God has been faithful.”
Social media has since been flooded with messages of condolence from parents, who followed Neillah’s journey.
Our deepest condolences go to Mama Neillah on the loss of her daughter ,Neillah.
