Aga Khan University Hospital Nairobi will on Wednesday March 13 host a free kidney screening camp which will be open to the public.

The screening will be conducted from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm to mark World Kidney day which is observed on the second Thursday of March annually.

This year’s theme dubbed “Kidney Health for Everyone Everywhere” aims to highlight the growing burden of kidney disease and kidney health disparity and inequity worldwide.

According to the World Kidney Day organization approximately 850 million people worldwide are estimated to have kidney disease with the highest cause being chronic kidney disease. Chronic kidney disease causes at least 2.4 million deaths per year  making it the 6th largest fastest growing cause of death.
