Ibrahim Rotich, the main suspect in the late athlete Agnes Tirop's murder, will plead to murder charges on November 16th. According to Diana Milimu, the deputy registrar at High Court in Eldoret, Rotich is to undergo a mental assessment at Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital before taking the plea.
“Direction is hereby given that the accused person be escorted to the MTRH on Monday, November 15 for a psychiatric examination before taking plea on the following day, on Tuesday, November 16th,” Milimu stated.
Rotich was arrested at a roadblock at Chaani in Changamwe, as he tried to escape days after the body of Agnes Tirop was found in their home in Iten with stab wounds.
According to Keiyo North Sub-County DCIO, Andolo Munga, the directorate believe they have a strong case.
" The footage is clear. We can place Rotich at the scene. The forensic analysis is also complete. It gives us all the evidence at the scene and what actually happened. We have a strong case. We're ready with the prosecution", he said.
A note believed to have been left by the suspect detailing the couples tumultuous relationship is also undergoing forensic analysis.
