Deputy President William Ruto has made it clear that he has no intentions of quitting the government.

Speaking while addressing mourners during the burial of Mahoo Ward MCA Ronald Habel Sagurani in Taita Taveta County, the DP  said that he “has no space to retreat” and does not have the “luxury to surrender” adding that he would continue to champion for what he thought is best for the country.

“I’m a man on a mission to ensure the jobless, those running small business, the many farmers who are struggling they too become part of our nation and that Kenya cannot be a preserve for leaders and what they want and can get.”

The DP’s remarks came a day after President Uhuru Kenyatta dared his deputy to quit the government if he was not happy.

“I have an agenda that I was elected on. The honourable thing to do if you are not happy with it is to step aside and allow those who want to move on to do so then take the agenda to the people. You have to be principled and decide, that is what happens in a democracy,” said Kenyatta

The president, however, insisted that he has no problem with the DP building his political base, but questioned the methods he is employing to do so.
