Uhuru announces cash reward for Olympic medalists
This comes in the wake of heavy criticism over the athletes’ cold reception when they arrived in the country after the Olympics.

However, this joy was short-lived after an announcement that the Kenyan team had been disqualified for lane violation. The disqualification meant that Italy and South Africa qualified in position two and three respectively.

In heat one, India finished first, and was closely followed by Czech Republic and Jamaica rounded up the three qualifying positions. The 6 nations will be joined by Poland and Sri-Lanka in the final that will take place today evening.

The competition brings together over 100 countries and will take place for 5 days  at the Moi International Sports Complex, Kasarani. Kenya will be represented by a total of 52 athletes.

Only members of press, volunteers, other athletes and security teams are allowed into the stadium as majority of Kenyans urged to watch from home or from screens placed strategically in various parts of the country.
