Mwangi Kabinga, 30, and his pregnant wife Mary Wanjiru, 28 grace our cover this month. The couple has a three-and-a-half-years-old daughter, Angel Nyambura. They run a family business.

HOW DID YOU MEET?

Mary: We met at Mwangi’s cousin’s graduation party in November 2006. A mutual friend had invited me to the party.

Mwangi: When I saw Mary, I knew in my heart that I wanted her to be my wife and I seized the opportunity to introduce myself. I thanked our mutual friend for bringing me a wife. A deep friendship was ignited and in 2008, we moved in together.

DESCRIBE YOUR MARRIAGE

We are friends and this helps us to iron out our differences in an amicable way. Although there are a few challenges here and there, as is expected of any relationship, we have purposed to enjoy our marriage. It has been quite fun!

WHAT IS YOUR EXPERIENCE OF PARENTING?

Mwangi: Being a parent is the best thing that happened to us. Angel is the foundation of our marriage and we love her very much. We hope to
bring her up in a God-fearing way.

Mary: Parenting is an enriching experience and Angel makes me a contented woman. She is very playful and also a fast learner. She is already in school in baby class.

YOU ARE EXPECTING A SECOND CHILD. HOW HAS THE PREGNANCY BEEN?

Mary: It has been problematic. I have suffered nausea, vomiting and general body fatigue for the better part of it. It was the same with Angel but I am glad that soon this will be a thing of the past when our baby comes.
