  • PublishedJune 24, 2019

Penis hygiene for men is very requisite. Meticulous personal hygiene on the genitals reduces chances of developing skin irritation and common infections. Moreover, men should always make sure their genitals are cleaned. The following are easy ways of taking care of your penis.

Use warm water

When washing your penis, use a warm water at least twice a day. Clean the scrotum and under the penis gently. Make sure you use a soft material because the area around your penis is very sensitive.

NB. For the uncut, pull back the foreskin and wash underneath with warm water everyday to reduce the risk of infections and growth of bacteria.

Trim your pubic hair

Pubic hair provides a cushion against friction that can cause skin scraping, injury and protection from bacteria. However, the hair around the base of the penis becomes breeding ground for boils and causes bad odour. To avoid that, make sure the pubic hair is short and clean. Moreover, during sex, the hair can cause cuts on the vaginal organs and condom and put you at risk of contracting diseases.

Change your boxer and clean them well

Make sure the underwear that you put on is clean for good penis hygiene. Men are especially notorious for wearing the same underwear for days. This makes a perfect breeding ground for bacteria. It can also cause yeast infections. Dirty boxers may give your penis a permanent bad smell.

Avoid too much alcohol.

According to researchers, alcohol is a downer and can affect a man’s ability to maintain his erection. Too much alcohol is harmful to the reproductive health. The more you drink the worse the effects. Some of the effects are male fertility problems, as well as reduced sex drive and performance.

Desist using powder

When you use powder, especially after shaving, you might develop serious skin irritation. Applying talcum powder helps keep foul odours at bay but it has some side effects.
For instance, if you apply powder when the genital area is wet, the powder becomes damp. This clogs the pores in that region. Clogged pores then becomes infected and lead to boils in the area. Find out more information on penile hygiene here.
