Period pains are every woman’s bane, with most women struggling with nausea, headaches, bloating and mood swings. A few lucky women go through this period with barely any symptoms. The foods you take can help ease period cramps and reduce stomach bloating. Here are some of the foods to eat on your periods.

Bananas

Bananas are among the world’s most popular fruits, and are one of the important foods to eat during your periods. They contain potassium in high levels, magnesium and fibre which helps maintain fluid levels in the body. They also regulate the movement of nutrients and waste products in and out of the cells. This means if you are suffering from period induced diarrhoea or irregular bowel movement then bananas will make you feel better. They also relieve period pains and balance your mood.

Orange

Oranges are a good source of calcium and vitamin D. They are  good for period cramps because the nutrients contained in them help alleviate cramps and aches, and also relieve symptoms of depression. In addition, they are a good source of fiber so you are certain they will help in digestive issues.

Eggs are among the healthiest foods on the planet. Not only are they a good source of proteins, but the yolk contains plenty of iron , fat-soluble vitamins which have plenty of benefits during your periods. If you have a sensitive stomach, avoid hard- boiled eggs because they can cause bloating and heart burns. Take your eggs  fried to avoid such effects.

Dark chocolate

Your periods are the best time to treat yourself to healthy organic dark chocolate – this is the best comfort food. Quality dark chocolate is rich in fiber, a nutrient important during digestion. It is also rich in iron ,manganese, magnesium, copper and other essential minerals. Avoid unprocessed dark chocolate because it contains sugars which are not good for you.

To ease the uncomfortable period pains, take more natural and healthier foods.
