Witness claims to have seen police assaulting Kianjokoma brothers

It is now emerging, from witness accounts, that Embu brothers did not jump from a moving vehicle as police statements had earlier alleged. According to Citizen Digital, it has emerged that suspects who had been arrested together with Emmanuel Mutura 19, and Benson Njiru 22, were ordered to disembark from police vehicle on arrival at Manyatta police station before police officers, led by two corporals, drove the vehicle to an unknown destination.
The publication further reports that a witness, who has since recorded a statement, claimed that Emmanuel, the younger brother, was the first to be arrested. When officers started assaulting him, his brother came to his rescue attracting a beating from the officers until he lay motionless on the ground. The two were then bundled into a car headed to Manyatta police station from where they were driven to an unknown destination only to be found dead two days later.

The claims come a day after Interior Cabinet Secretary Dr. Fred Matiang’i and together with Inspector General of Police Hillary Mutyambai and Attorney General Kihara Kariuki visited the family of the slain brothers on Wednesday and assured them that justice would be served.
“We will be patient for the final report and stop at nothing to ensure justice is served. Action will be swift and decisive on any officer found to be culpable. Once again, my condolences to the family.”
The brothers will be buried on Friday at their home in Kithagari village.
