Emmy Kosgei is a lot of things to many people.

Her hats, ones she wears well, can be quite a mouthful -singer, songwriter, gospel minister, cultural ambassador, peacemaker, philanthropist, entrepreneur, wife…and mother.

Not many people identify Emmy as a mother but she is one and more so, also happens to be a grandmother.

In an earlier interview with Parents Magazine, Emmy reveals that while she is yet to have her own biological children, that has not stopped her from being an active stepmother to her husband’s, Anselm Madubuko’s, three adult children-Velma, Sandra and Anselm Jr.

She adds that they all have a cordial relationship.

Emmy adds that moving to an already established family wasn’t easy, “When I was getting married and joining my new family and church, I was really scared. However, it has worked out. Both divides have accepted me.”

“My step-children respect me and call me mum. I don’t take it for granted.”

The songbird also says she enjoys being a grandmother,

“My stepchildren’s children refer to me as grandma, even though I am yet to become a mother myself,” she says fondly.

In the interview, Emmy adds she feels no pressure to have children of her own, but is not entirely opposed to it, “I didn’t get married just because I wanted to have kids. Relationships are about unions and destinies. If you are attached to the wrong person, it can affect your destiny permanently. I’m also very busy but yes, I do hope to have my own children one day,” she says.
