How to Check Your KUCCPS University Placement Status

Published

on

Following the official release of the 2026 university and college placement results by the Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS), the student portal is now live.

Nearly one million candidates from the 2025 KCSE cohort can now log in to see which institutions and courses they have been assigned.

Due to the heavy traffic expected on the system, navigating the portal quickly and correctly is essential to avoid timeouts.

Follow this definitive, step-by-step guide to check your placement status and secure your official admission details.

Prerequisites

Before opening the portal, ensure you have the following details ready:

  • Your full KCSE Index Number
  • Your Birth Certificate Number OR your KCPE Index Number (used as your default login password)
  • A reliable, stable internet connection

The portal navigation process

1. Access the official KUCCPS portal

Open your web browser and go directly to the official student login page. Avoid clicking third-party search links to protect your personal data from phishing sites.

2. Enter your login credentials

Click on the “Login” button. In the designated fields, enter your KCSE Index Number and the exam year (2025).

3. Input your password verification

For the password field, enter either your Birth Certificate Number or your KCPE Index Number exactly as you entered it during your KCSE examination registration.

4. View dashboard and download letter

Once logged in, check your main dashboard. Your placed university or college, along with the specific degree or TVET program, will be clearly displayed. Copy these details and proceed directly to that specific institution’s official website to download your formal Admission Letter and reporting instructions.

What to do if you encounter error messages

  • “User not found” or login failures: Double-check that you haven’t included slashes (/) in your index number. The system requires the numbers to be entered as a continuous string.
  • Site loading slowly: With hundreds of thousands of students checking simultaneously, portal lag is normal. If the page fails to load, do not keep refreshing aggressively; clear your browser cache or try logging in during off-peak hours (late evening or early morning).

Funding application

Once you have confirmed your placement and downloaded your admission letter, your next step is to log in to the Higher Education Financing (HEF) portal to apply for your government scholarships and Higher Education Loans Board (HELB) funding before the upcoming August/September admission deadlines.
