Kenyans have taken to social media to mourn the death of former  400 M hurdles champion Nicholas Bett.

Bett died on the spot, following an early morning accident along the Eldoret-Kapsabet road near Lessos, in Nandi County. 

It is believed the car he was driving lost control after hitting a bump and veered off the road and landing in a ditch. Here is what some Kenyans had to say about the hero’s death

Bett put Kenya on the world map as the king of athletics after he became the first Kenyan to win a World Championships gold medal in Beijing in 2015.

Bett was part of the team that represented Kenya in the just concluded African Athletics Championships in Nigeria. He was the first Kenyan to win a World’s gold in the hurdles

His death was confirmed by Nandi Police Commander Patrick Wambani.
