NHIF beneficiaries to enjoy unlimited access on outpatient services
National Hospital Insurance Fund (NHIF) beneficiaries will no longer be limited to the health facilities they had pre-selected for outpatient services.
Patients will be able to access over 2,000 hospitals that they prefer from a list of facilities provided.
This means beneficiaries will have access to outpatient services in private hospitals like Aga Khan and Nairobi Hospital.
Members will also no longer co-pay but still enjoy the same benefit package.
Changing market scope
According to NHIF Chief Executive Officer Geoffery Mwangi, NHIF is adapting to changing market trends.
This is in a bid to promote universal health care coverage.
It also hopes this will make accessibility to affordable, sustainable, equitable and quality social health insurance possible.
Members shall be informed on the arrangement for healthcare delivery at the various hospitals.
