President Ruto Nominates 10 More Cabinet Secretaries
President Ruto has announced 10 new cabinet secretaries, bringing opposition members into his government. In his speech on Wednesday, he announced the appointment of some former cabinet secretaries.
The second batch of nominated cabinet secretaries are as follows:
1. Ministry of Tourism and Wildlife – Rebecca Miano
2. Ministry of Labour and Social Protection- Dr. Alfred Mutua
3. Ministry of Energy and Petroleum – Opiyo Wandayi
4. Ministry of Public Service – Justin Muturi
5. Ministry of Mining and Blue Economy – Hassan Joho
6. Ministry of Investment, Trade and Industry – Salim Mvurya
7. Ministry of Youth Affairs, Creative Economy and Sports – Kipchumba Murkomen
8. Ministry of Cooperatives and MSME Development – Wycliffe Oparanya
9. Ministry of Gender, Culture, Arts and Heritage – Stella Langa’t
10. National Treasury – John Mbadi
Last week, the president named Rebecca Miano as the nominated Attorney-General, previously serving as Cabinet Secretary for Investment, Trade and Industrialisation. She has now been reassigned to the Ministry of Tourism. The Attorney General’s docket remains vacant.
In a surprise cabinet change, the President reassigned Aden Duale to the Ministry of Environment, Climate Change and Forestry, while Soipan Tuya was moved to the Ministry of Defence.
President William Ruto left out a number of his dismissed cabinet secretaries. They include:
1. Susan Nakhumicha – Health
2. Eliud Owalo- ICT
3. Zacharia Njeru- Water and Irrigation
4.Ezekiel Machogu- Education
5. Ababu Namwamba – Sports
6. Florence Bore – Labour and Social Protection
7. Mithika Linturi – Agriculture and Livestock
The President stated that the nominated cabinet secretaries will join his government to steward the existing transformative agenda.
