President Ruto Nominates Dorcas Oduor for the Attorney General position

President Ruto has nominated Dorcas Agik Oduor for the position of Attorney General.
Ms. Oduor has over 30 years of experience in the legal field. She graduated with a bachelors degree in Law in 1990 and did her postgraduate diploma from the Kenya School of Law in 1991. She was admitted to the bar as an advocate of the High Court of Kenya in 1992.
A statement issued by Head of Public Service, Felix Koskei, indicated that Ms. Oduor has contributed immensely to the development of law in Kenya through litigation and legal advisories.
“Senior Counsel Oduor has demonstrated unimpeachable integrity, impressive professional competence and steadfast commitment to the rule of law,” the notice stated.
Upon parliamentary approval, Ms Oduor will assume the position of Kenya’s first female attorney general and the ninth individual to hold this role.
She currently works as Secretary of Public Prosecution within the office of the Director of Public Prosecution (DPP).
President Ruto has also nominated Beatrice Askul Moe as the Cabinet Secretary for East African Community Affairs and Regional Development.
Askul holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Social Sciences from the Catholic University of Eastern Africa and is currently pursuing a master’s degree in Governance and Ethics.
Askul is a social scientist and a consultant having previously served as the county executive committee member in charge of water, irritating and agriculture land reclamation in Turkana county.
