Tanzania is in mourning as tragedy strikes at the heart of its youth and sports community. Viral Scout Management has confirmed the brutal killing of seven young football talents under its wing , Rajabu Rajab (17), Anthony Rico (18), Abdulqareem Ali (16), Peter Eliya (19), Mshani Musa (17), Omar Musa (15), and John Hosea (22), who were shot dead in separate attacks in Dar es Salaam, Mbeya, and Mwanza.
The deaths come at a time when the country is grappling with nationwide unrest following the October 2025 elections, which have left hundreds dead and others injured. Major cities have seen violent protests, curfews, and widespread fear, with families torn apart by insecurity.
In their official statement, Viral Scout Management condemned the killings, calling them “senseless acts of violence” that have robbed the nation of its future football stars.
“We vehemently condemn the killings of civilians and players alike. No one deserves to have their dreams stolen in such a brutal manner. These young athletes were the future of Tanzanian football, dedicated to their craft and inspiring countless others,” read part of the statement.
The management has called on Tanzanian authorities and international football bodies, including CAF, FIFA, and the Tanzania Football Federation (TFF) , to ensure justice is served and to implement stronger measures to safeguard young athletes across the country.
Holding onto their powerful motto,
“There is no pressure when you are making dreams come true,”
Viral Scout says it will continue to champion the dreams of young players despite the tragedy.
For many families, the killings have deepened the sense of fear and uncertainty that has gripped Tanzania in recent weeks. Parents now find themselves questioning how to keep their children safe in a nation where even promising athletes are not spared from violence.
For Parents: Protecting Young Dreams in Uncertain Times
As Tanzanian families grieve, parents everywhere are reminded of the fragile line between hope and heartbreak. Here are some ways to protect and nurture your child’s talent during instability:
-
Stay informed: Know what’s happening in your child’s community and the risks around training grounds or travel routes.
-
Keep communication open: Encourage your child to speak about their fears and experiences, especially during tense times.
-
Choose safe, credible organisations: Ensure your child’s sports club or management agency has clear safety policies and welfare measures.
-
Advocate for safety: Parents and community leaders must call for better protection of young talents, from stronger policing to mental health support.
-
Prioritise emotional well-being: Beyond the game, ensure your child feels valued and secure at home, especially during national unrest.
As Tanzania mourns, Viral Scout Management’s message stands as both a plea and a promise that the dreams of these young players will not die in vain.
Rest in peace, our stars. Your legacy lives on.
