The power of the HUMAN HEART

  • PublishedApril 2, 2013

In my journey of learning, I have come across all kinds of stuff and revelations. For example, I’ve been worshiping the wrong ‘god’. I know that is a very serious statement. But it’s true.
See my ‘god’ – a ‘god’ that I have truly respected, a ‘god’ that I had proclaimed to be the answer to all questions, the source of infinite wisdom, a ‘god’ of mystery, immense love and perplexing complexity that dwarfs all known structures in the universe – has been the brain.
Yes, all my gawking over neuroscience and human psychology led me to believe that the brain was the beginning and end of all human intelligence and emotional wellbeing.
Now it turns out that I had it all so very wrong. This earth-shattering discovery came about when I was going through my usual ritual of digging for scientific answers.
This time my question regarded intuition – “What actually is intuition? Is it real, i.e. ‘scientifically’ proven? Do some people have more of it than others?” In discovering the answers, such as intuition is implicit or unconscious recognition memory, I learnt that the heart not only plays a role in unconscious perception, but that it is directly involved in the processing of information about a future emotional stimulus seconds before the body actually experiences the stimulus.
Huh? The heart has the capability to process information? Isn’t that strictly the domain of our big fat brains? Apparently not… Firstly, consider the astounding facts of the brain: Subscribe here for more.
