Turkana man beats two-year old son to death

DCI detectives in Turkana county are in search of a 35-year-old man who beat his two-year-old son to death.

The DCI through its Facebook page reported that the suspect Eyanae Ekwom had differed with his wife over her decision to take their son who was unwell to the hospital.

Trouble started when the suspect’s wife Eblait Nangiro defied her husband’s wishes of taking care of their goats and instead insisted on taking the boy to the hospital.

The suspect is said to have descended upon both mother and son with kicks and blows before villagers rushed the two to the hospital. Unfortunately, the child was confirmed dead on arrival to the hospital while the mother was left nursing injuries sustained during the assault.

The suspect went into hiding immediately afterwards. Cases of domestic violence in the country have been on a steady increase in recent months with the government being urged to intervene.
