It was a day of color, culture, and class as Trans Nzoia Senator Allan Chesang and Chanelle Kittony celebrated their traditional wedding (CHAIK) on Saturday, November 1, in a ceremony that many online users are calling the traditional wedding of the year.

Despite the heavy downpour, guests arrived in style to celebrate the couple, gathering under a grand tent setup that accommodated hundreds. The event, themed purple, radiated elegance and cultural pride, with traditional Kalenjin songs filling the air and creating an atmosphere of joy and authenticity.

The bride, Chanelle Kittony, stunned in a purple corset dress with a long, flowing tail that added a touch of grandeur to the occasion. Her look perfectly balanced modern glamour and traditional grace. The groom, Senator Chesang, complemented her beautifully in a purple and white outfit, both exuding confidence and sophistication. Their bridal team, also dressed in purple, brought infectious energy as they danced into the venue, setting a lively tone that lasted all day.

The star-studded event drew the attention of many, with several high-profile guests gracing the occasion. Among them were President William Ruto, Ugandan Minister for Security Jim Muhwezi, National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetang’ula, Kapseret MP Oscar Sudi, Senator Ledama Olekina, and other legislators. The entertainment scene was well represented too, with Mulamwah and Dem wa Facebook in attendance.

Chanelle, who currently serves as the County Executive Committee Member for Public Works, Roads, and Infrastructure in Trans Nzoia County, is the daughter of Radio Africa Group Chairman Kiprono Kittony and granddaughter of Zipporah Kittony, the former Senator and long-serving Maendeleo ya Wanawake Organization (MYWO) chairperson.

Her father’s speech added humor and warmth to the day. “We are honoured to see Chanelle do the right thing today,” said Kiprono Kittony. “We have security guards and German Shepherds, but Allan still made it through. I saw him on CCTV and wondered whether it was the right thing, but we have given you our daughter without blemish, so take good care of her.”

President Ruto, who referred to Chesang as his political son, praised the couple for taking the bold step to formalize their union. “Congratulations Allan and Chanelle. Your marriage is important to me because Allan is my political son. Strong families are the foundation of strong nations,” he said, also teasing the couple about expecting grandchildren soon.

This beautiful ceremony followed a lavish engagement party held in July, which was attended by, among others, KANU Chairman Gideon Moi and Kapseret MP Oscar Sudi, who then wished the couple “a lifetime of love, happiness, and togetherness.”

From the luxurious setup to the display of culture, fashion, and love, the Chesang-Kittony traditional wedding left Kenyans captivated and talking. And as photos and videos continue to make rounds online, many are left wondering, was this indeed the traditional wedding of the year?
