A 22 year old man who was arrested for trying to smuggle his newborn daughter from Kenyatta National Hospital (KNH) has been set free.

Boniface Murage, came to the limelight after he pleaded guilty to the charges saying that he could not afford to pay the Sh56,000 bill.

Boniface was released on a three-month suspended sentence on Tuesday. Milimani Resident Magistrate Muthoni Nzibe gave the sentence.

Before his release, Kenyans took to Twitter to air out their frustrations with KNH. Most of them expressed their willingness to support the man and his family.

Seasoned Journalist, Larry Madowo offered to provide Boniface with a lawyer.

I’ve spoken to @Charlesliewa who will represent him pro-bono https://t.co/FX2mrpDQkd

Last evening, my team shopped for Murage’s family including his daughter who was released from the hospital after a good Samaritan settled their hospital bill.
