25-Year-Old Man Dies After Allegedly Being Pushed From Moving Super Metro Bus
A 25-year-old man died on Tuesday night, February 24, 2026 after he was allegedly pushed from a moving Super Metro bus along the Kitengela–Namanga Highway.
The man, identified as Joseph Mureithi, had boarded the bus in Kitengela and was heading toward Nairobi after finishing his shift at work. Witnesses told police that a confrontation broke out shortly after the vehicle started moving. During the altercation, he was reportedly pushed out of the bus while it was still in motion.
According to eyewitness accounts, the bus is said to have run over him moments later. He sustained severe head injuries and was rushed to Shalom Hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
Police have since arrested the driver and conductor who were on duty at the time of the incident. The two are currently in custody as investigations continue. Authorities said an autopsy will be carried out to confirm the exact cause of death.
Mureithi was a petrol attendant based in Athi River. Family members described him as hardworking and said he played a key role in supporting his household. They are calling for justice and urge authorities to ensure those responsible are held accountable.
The incident has sparked public concern over passenger safety in public service vehicles. Police are appealing to anyone who witnessed the incident to come forward and assist with investigations.
