A thrift shop for those of you who do not know is a shop that sells second-hand items could be anything from furniture to books. However, we are here to talk about clothes, shoes, bags, and anything pertaining to fashion. In Kenya, thrift shopping can happen at any time and at any place because items are sold on almost every street in Nairobi.

You could be wondering why anyone would voluntarily subject themselves to the pushing and shoving that occurs in these overcrowded thrift shopping markets. Not to mention the scorching sun that produces heat that even your soul can feel. Well, these are the reasons why you should choose thrift over overpriced boutiques.

Look good for less

You would not believe the number of quality items you can get with just 2000 Kshs. With pants ranging between 200-600 bob, depending on where you thrift; who would not want in on that action? Thrifting goes a really long way in helping you save your money which you could save and put into investments.

Get rich thrifting!

We already said, clothes, shoe, and bags that you thrift are really cheap, so why not sell them for a little bit more to your, friends, family or interested people on the internet. Find items that are good quality, trendy and in good condition. It would be quite easy to market your items using word of mouth, that is, you tell your friends to tell their friends and so on. You can also set up social media accounts and use them to spread the word.

Designer clothes for next to nothing

You probably envy people walking around with those designer brands that you dream about and covet every waking moment. When you go thrift shopping, it is very likely that you will find an item with a big name. You can walk around like a big deal in these items because you are.

One of a Kind

Many boutiques stock a lot of generic apparel, shoes, and bags, that are the same down to the buttons. You will buy a blouse from a boutique and you are likely to see at least five other ladies rocking the same blouse. Bad experiences like these are less likely to occur if you purchase your items in a thrift store where items are usually very different. Therefore, you will have a unique wardrobe with a diverse assortment of clothing.
