Kenyans jump at the chance to make a killing from hailstorms
Lakipia County residents are in shock after experiencing hailstorms on Wednesday morning.
“Escape the city for a weekend snow at Nyahururu. You don’t need a visa to see the snow,” reads a Facebook post in one of the tourism company in the country.”
This was just hours after some parts of Laikipia County experienced intense hail storms following a heavy downpour. In typical Kenyan fashion of following popular trends such as the quail business and the long defunct simu ya jamii business, some Kenyans have already spotted an opportunity to make a quick buck.
According to the Kenya Meteorological Department the hailstorm was as a result of convergence of Western and Eastern winds which are common in regions around the country.
While hailstorms are uncommon in Kenya, Laikipia cold weather remains peculiar, as it experiences it from time to time.
