Casual chat in matatu led to marriage
Love finds us in strange places and unexpected ways. For Michael and Wariko Mbugua, a casual conversation in a matatu was the beginning of a great friendship that years later blossomed to love, and like they say, the rest is history. The couple shared their love story with WANGARI MWANGI.
The year was 2008. Wariko and Michael Mbugua were strangers riding in the same matatu heading to Nairobi’s central business district. The matatu was stuffy and Wariko requested Michael to open the window to allow some fresh air in. This provided an opportunity for them to strike a conversation. By the time they alighted, they had already gained some familiarity and even exchanged contacts.
